We went to the museum today, and the insect wrangler was chillin’ in the butterfly exibit. So, we walked over. Did we expect walking sticks, a praying mantis, maybe?
What we got were venomous nightmare creatures from the pit. And yes, it was awesome.
I even got to hold the tarantula. Later they told me that she still has her fangs. Nice.
Hey, at least I got this gallery up before January ended. A note to my future self: everyone was really sick at Christmas. If you don’t’ look as happy as you think you should, that’s why…

we went for a short 50 mile ride up the state to see the Kerr Lake recreation area. Beautiful! there aren’t enough people in the area to create any real pollution, so the fish in the lake are edible, and there are many of them. we will look forward to going back when the weather warms up just a little…so we can teach Xak to fish…
With us all feeling poorly around the holidays, we had to put off throwing Nova a birthday party. Now that we are all on the rebound, we had a little costume party for her First.

Nova got a horridly huge hunk of birthday confection….it’s tradition that your first real dose of refined sugar is on your first birthday…I know, Madness.
